Biggin Hill Airport are asking for residents’ view on their plans for the future – you can have your say at http://bigginhillfuture.co.uk.
Many aspects of their proposals will depend on the Council’s agreement, but they have made clear they have no plans for scheduled flights or any significant increase in the number of flights.
Also, some open days are being held at the Biggin Hill Airport visitor centre, at Maitland View, off Churchill Way, to see the consultation plans. The centre will be open from Monday, October 13, to Friday, October 17, from 3pm to 7pm, and on Saturday, October 18, from 10am to 2pm.
The work to improve the shopping area in Coney Hall is progressing. New planters are planned, though one site earmarked for these is currently occupied by a parcel locker, which was erected without planning permission. An appeal against the Council’s refusal of permission will be considered next month.
Unfortunately West Wickham South Residents’ Association’s bid, supported by your local councillors, for a village sign have been refused repeatedly by Transport for London on the grounds that it would ‘clutter’ the highway! Despite appeals up the chain of command at TfL the answer remains ‘no’.
Meanwhile, council officers continue to work with traders on ideas for rearranging the parking spaces, but there are many restrictions – physical, legal and financial – to be overcome and a conclusion is not yet in sight, though all parties remain keen to find further ways to improve the situation for the area.
Plans have been unveiled to extend the Bakerloo underground line to Hayes, replacing the current National Rail services.
The £3bn proposals would see trains from Hayes running through as far as Harrow and Wealdstone and promises more frequent services. However, there would no longer be a direct connection to the City and passengers would experience six additional stops before reaching Charing Cross. Some residents have expressed concerns about possible 24 hour running in the future and smaller carriages.

Hayes School is holding its annual open day for prospective pupils on Saturday 11th October.
This means there will be parking restrictions in force on that day along West Common Road from Hayes Close to Baston Road, also around into Baston Road itself (south-west side) up to the playing fields, as well as along the north side of Warren Road.
